Krista Nelson, LICSW, LMFT, Accredited Consultant in EMDR has over thirty years of post-masters experience working with adults and children who are coping with attachment loss, trauma and family changes, especially those who entered a family through adoption. She is co-founder of Family Circle Counseling and led the Wilder Foundation’s Attachment and Trauma Training program in St. Paul from 2001 to 2017.
Krista is a frequent speaker and consultant for Minnesota mental health organizations on issues of attachment, adoption, complex trauma, parenting, teen-parent therapy and support for caregivers and healers working with trauma. For over ten years she co-facilitated the popular MN ADOPT parent workshop Surviving and Thriving Beyond the RAD Diagnosis.
Krista has advanced training in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Theraplay, Developmental Dyadic Therapy and Emotion Focused Couples Counseling. She also mentors emerging therapists seeking licensure and consultation in trauma focused therapy, especially EMDR. Krista loves the balance of doing both talk and experiential therapy with children, teens, adults and couples in their quest for healing, coping with hard things, reclaiming identity, relationships and restoring capacity to enjoy life.
